General Information
The Student Recruitment and Retention Center stands for educational equity. Our student run and student initiated programs foster academic and personal development while raising political and cultural awareness, thus empowering students to act as dynamic leaders for their communities. We accept the challenge of creating a society that provides a quality, culturally sensitive, comprehensive education for students of all backgrounds. Furthermore, we are dedicated to creating an environment of collective action that will work to ensure the perpetuation of academic achievement among future generations. |

History
The Student Recruiotment and Retention Center (SRRC) story begins in the fall of 1998. A group of concerned students attended a UCLA conference entitled "Student-Initiated and Student-Run Programs." This inspired them to develop such a program at UCD. The students formed a committee with representatives from the ASUCD, African American, Chicano/Latino, Filipino, Native American, and Southeast Asian communities, and incorporated their plans into the Facilities and Campus Enhancement (FACE) initiative. The initiative passed and UCD students agreed to raise fees to pay for the development of the center. By February 2000, the SRRC became an official part of the university.
